What if all of your needs were met? What would you do next? What if, one day, there was no more struggle or want, no lack? What if you finally got everything you needed? What if you no longer had to worry about any of it? Then what? What would you do? What would your life become? Where would life take you? What dream would you follow? Where would you start?
Take that first step. Just one. Take just one moment. Write that first line. Play that first note. Take that first step out the door. Make that call, write that letter, do one little thing, whatever it is. Don’t worry about what it has to be.
Plant one little seed. Let it grow. Let it be whatever it is. Let it be whatever you love. Big or small, for one day or ten years, let it become whatever it is.
Nourish your desire, and let it nourish you. Create your love, create your heart’s fulfillment. Take one step.
When I was following spiritual practices, they would often turn into chores. I would feel pressured, and eventually resentful. I’d either push myself to do them, or I’d skip them and feel let down, like I’d failed.
There’s no spiritual technique, no task, no formula that will bring you any closer to your divine wholeness. There’s no chore or ceremony that will bring enlightenment.
I love how Anita Moorjani talked about this – when she talked about trying to follow specific practices for her cancer – how she felt fear, when they either failed to heal the cancer, or when she missed a session. It brought her deeper into her fear of the cancer – which is exactly where she needed to go.
Spiritual teachers talk about being present with what comes up. For me, that’s the resentment, the pressure – in that space, being in it is my spiritual practice. It isn’t a particular ceremony, it isn’t trying to deny anger, fear, or judgement. It’s just saying okay … and being truthful with my soul. How I feel, what I feel, what I need.
There’s value in techniques such as meditation, prayer, journaling, mirror work, gratitude, energy work and all sorts of spiritual practices.
But the value isn’t any technique or ceremony given by someone else. It’s you, the way you feel, what draws you. The value in this is your own connection, your own divine nature.
The value in those practices comes from you. From yourself. From what speaks to you, from what you feel in it. You are the divine nature that you seek in the practice. You, and everything you feel. You are the wholeness. You are the spirit. You are the divine. Nothing brings you closer, for it is already your truth.
Seek what brings out spirit in you, what brings joy, peace, love, connection, whatever it is. Let that be your spiritual practice. Let that be your connection, and let the divine unfold within you, whatever path it takes.
You create your own life, through your own energy, your own choices.
In love, health, work, or family, you choose. You follow the path you lay out. The past is not real, now. But the present is informed by your own stewardship – of your past memories, thoughts feelings – here, now, in this moment.
All your choices, your experiences are now. Your heart is now.
Choose love, and love chooses you.
Love what you love. Love fully, deeply, passionately. Embrace what you love. Love wholeheartedly, joyfully, deeply. What you love, bring it forth, nourish it, nurture and cultivate it, deepen and express your love.
Love your joy, your passion, your desire. Love your want, love your heart, love what brings love to you. Love the love that returns to you. Love what inspires you. Love what moves you, open your heart and resonate with your inspiration, your passion, your fulfullment.
Love your love.
Everything we choose in this moment.
What would love mean if you didn’t care? If you didn’t hurt when it was gone?
Life is meant to be lived, to be savored, to be embraced. Taste both the bitter and the sweet. Let yourself feel. Let yourself love. You are human.
You have a heart. You are sensitive. You are vulnerable. You love deeply. You have compassion, you have empathy.
So be vulnerable. Savor it all. Feel it truly, fully – be your authentic self. Trust yourself. Embrace the bitter and the sweet together. Love life. Love your own soul, your humanity, your love. Live it.
All forgiveness is self forgiveness.
All love is created by you.
You are the source of love.
Be the love you desire.
